Performing Solo and with the band: Folk Nouveau In April 2001, I began performing solo and I am having a blast! It's just me with guitar, fiddle, flute and voice and it's so exciting for me to be able to share my music with other people. Lots of blessings to all who've come to hear me play. My most special treat for 2003 was a few gigs in Ireland. I played at John Bennett's Pub and at Cafe Pooka both in County Kerry. For a current listing of where I'll be playing, head over to the schedule. Recent Performances Most recently, I've begun playing with some fabulous musicians: two are both named Diana and one is Dave. Veterans of the bands Kiva and Green Crown, Diana Sunday, Diana McFadden and David Landis bring a wealth of musicianship and artistry to anything they undertake. It's a privilege to play with these incredible musicians. The Dianas also appear on the CD, "Sound the Deep Waters." Together, we are called, Folk Nouveau. The name: Folk Nouveau. The name was coined by Rich Potter to describe the style of music I play. It is the same name as the music label that I already had and as Diana Sunday put it: "Duh, it's what we already play." *** Latest MusicThe Sounds page has been revised and updated with new mp3's. Take a listen to Miracle (the latest song to have a recording - The lyrics have changed a wee bit, but essentially, here it is) Harvest Home, Heart's Ease/Romany Butterfly (traditional song samples from Folk Nouveau) Goddess I Am (this one inspired by the Hill of Tara in Ireland) and the Fire chant (written for the 1994 Free Spirit Gathering). And the very latest is a recording of me singing the first stanza of Schubert's "Ave Maria." Head over to the lyrics page to see the latest songs I've been writing. The newest songs that are up are "Dare to Start" "Labyrinth" and The Other Sister's Tale. I hope to have mp3s of them up soon. I'm in a flurry of writing right now. I'm in the middle of two songs for which I am writing both lyrics and melodies and I am currently finalizing the melodies for three poems out of my favorite collection of poetry, "Sound The Deep Waters" (yep, that's where I got the title to the song.)
