Beep Beep, Honk Honk © 2003 by Izolda Trakhtenberg with help from Rich Potter

This song was inspired by driving on the beltway during a Friday afternoon rush hour. Need I say more?

Beep Beep, Honk Honk

Beep beep honk honk the war’s about to begin
They’ll get there faster if they don’t let anyone in

    Have a care
    Please beware
    Beltway drivers
    Are everywhere

Driving on the beltway on a Friday afternoon
We know where we’re going but we will not get there soon

    Refrain

We’re lots of little gerbils crawling around a circular maze
Swing left, dodge right maneuvers that only amaze

    Refrain

Sports cars leave in their dust mid-life crises are surely a phase
I’m left choking on their exhausting haze (get it?)

    Refrain

Can’t see ‘round the SUV it’s like a mountain in front of me
Why is there only one person riding in that hell-on-wheels?

    Refrain

Rush hour is upon us the world slows to a crawl
A mile up, a man on the shoulder is answering nature’s call

    Refrain

My hat is off to those who drive it every day
Daring to dream that it’ll be different today

    Refrain

**

I'm not sure if I will ever record this song, but I just had to write it all down.
