David plays Native American flutes, pennywhistles, bamboo flutes, and percussion. He has been playing hand drums for many years. He started playing Native American flutes in 1993 (self-taught), then added bamboo flutes and pennywhistles over the years.

He joined the world-beat folk band KIVA in 1995, and he is still a member, helping to create 5 CD's of music. He made guest appearances with the celtic group Green Crown at the MD Renaissance Fair in 1997, and afterwards at several festivals. He also played in the folk trio
called Brightwing for a few years. He first linked up with Owain Phyfe of the New World Renaissance Band in 1998 for a yule performance. He then played with Owain in 1999 at the VA Renaissance Faire and the PA Renaissance Faire. He then sat in with Owain at the MD Renaissance Faire in 2000, 2001, and 2002. He also joined Owain onstage at many other festivals.
