Both Tai Chi and Reiki are practices that utilize energetic healing techniques. Reiki comes from the Far East (Japan) and Tai Chi is an art that dates back over 5,000 years. Izolda has been a Tai Chi practitioner and teacher of the Yang style for over 13 years, and she was certified Reiki II in 2001. Instead of relying on only one form of energy working, Izolda utilizes whichever form is best suited depending on the needs of her clients. There are times when she utilzies her Reiki training and there are times when the more focused workings of Tai Chi appear to be more beneficial. However, each one allows a connection with healing and beneficial energy which then transfers to her clients. She believes in working in partnership with her clients so that each person takes an active and participatory role in her/his own well-being. She also utilizes herbalism, meditation, and chakra attunement in her work (to see more information on the chakras, please take a look at the Chakra information pdf). The figure below, the Triquetra, is her symbol for the interconnectedness of each of us, the earth, and the healing techniques that can be utilized to help those who seek them.

Stone/Crystal Healing

For millenia people have found stones and crystals fascinating. From the worry stone found while walking along a beach to the Hope Diamond, stones and crystals have been prized their beauty and for their energetic properties. Whether buried deep in the earth or found along a shoreline, people have collected them and prized them since time immemorial. Stones were carved to make cooking implements, images of the sacred, toys, and they were utilized and honored in many other manners. Stones have been found in ancient sacred spaces from the thousands of stones that make up the outside of Newgrange in Ireland to the great stone megaliths of Stonehenge. In all these ways, people respect and honor the power of stones and crystals.

Many of the beliefs about the energetic properties of stones and crystals have been handed down over the years. For example, why do we have birthstones? Are our birthstones somehow more resonant with us because of when we were born? Why are there superstitions about certain stones? For example, through the ages many people have believed that if they were not born in October, they should not wear opals. This belief has survivied to our modern age in part because there are many who believe in and attest to the energetic power of stones.

We have known for some time about crystals and their resonating power. For example, computers use crystal technology in order to keep time. According to a wired.com article, "Inside every computer is a chip that surrounds a quartz crystal oscillator to record time." We also have LCDs (or Liquid Crystal Displays) in our computer monitors. In 1962, Harvey Brooks wrote an article in Harvard Alumni Bulletin and in it he talked about crystals and computers. (Brooks, Harvey. "From Crystals to Computers." Harvard Alumni Bulletin (26 May 1962): 637-642.). There is also no better prism than a crystal. For some time, we have known that crystals can store and utilize energy and we have made use of this knowledge by utilizing their properties in technology. In addition to technological uses, crystal properties can also be utilized to heal the energy of the body and mind.

There are many ways to incorporate stone energy into our lives. One of the best is to find a stone that feels good to you and to keep it with you as you move through your life. You may keep the stone as a worry stone and handle it when under stress, for example. Or, you may keep the stone as a talisman if you wish to do so. The photograph to the right is of one of my found stones. The one to the left is a purchased, tumbled fluorite crystal. It is a semi-translucent stone that is very fragile. People have long prized fluroite for its beauty and incredible color that ranges from teal to bright green to deepest violet.

Healer's Arts offers three types of crystal/stone healings.

1. Chakra Attunement and Healing: After a consultation on the issues that the client wishes to address, the appropriate stones are placed on the chakra points and the healing is done in conjunction with a chakra healing and opening guided meditation. This healing opens and balances the chakras in order to obtain and then maintain wellness and wholeness.

2. Quartz Crystal Attunement and Healing. This depends on the issues that need to be addressed. The stones act as conductors and are placed on and around the person getting the attunement. Once the stones have been placed in the appropriate pattern, the client must achieve and maintain a meditative state for at least 20 minutes.

3. Specific Energy With Stones and Crystals. Many stones have specific energies and work sympathetically with the needs of those who hold them a la worry stones or talismans. By having a consultation with the client, Izolda is able to getting a determine the kind of crystal that might be beneficial for them to hold and she will give them various crystals to hold onto. Often, clients become attached the stones and develop a true attunement with the energy of said stone. This last healing is usually done in conjunction with the others or with Holistic Life Coaching as part of a process of finding balance on the path.
