I love the tarot. I am a collector of decks and have something like 30 so far. What's funny is that I read with only one, the Mary Hanson-Roberts deck. There's something about it ... you know, when you find the right deck, you can just tell. As a matter of fact, my dear friend, Susan, got this great idea to create a friendship quilt for me. She decided to do a friendship tarot card quilt. So, twelve people got together and created a truly magnificent work of art.

At any rate, a lot of people go through a major search to find their deck. I thought it would be fun and hopefully helpful to put together a page that does deck reviews. More will be added as I review them (and if you'd like to add your views/reviews of these decks or any others, please email me at the address below) but, in the meantime, below are reviews of the following decks.

There's a change in the look of this page. The review page had gotten too big to download all at once so I thought that I might make it easier for folks. There are now two pages to read. One is Tarot Deck Review: A-L and the other is Tarot Deck Review: M-Z. You can access any of the decks from this table of contents page, but if you want to look a deck that starts with an A-L you'll have to look on that page, and a deck that starts with an M-Z will be on the M-Z page.

This month's new review is: the Goddess Tarot .

Also, here is an article I wrote about choosing your first tarot deck.

More reviews coming soon.

Here is a great site for learning how to read the tarot. It is Joan Bunning's "Learning the Tarot: an on-line course." And she se lls decks from her site too. (This is a woman-owned small business.)

Here is Lunaea Weatherstone's incredible Full Moon Dreams online tarot deck. It is a beautiful, thoughtfully-created deck with striking images and wonderful words. (You may know of Lunaea as the original publisher of "Sage Woman" magazine.)

And here are a couple of really cool links to tarot games. John Cooper's Zarcana, and John McLeod's card game site

Here's a nice site for getting tarot bags if you'd like one. It's called, RoseFairies Tarot Bags and More and it, too, is a one-woman show. I've checked it out and it looks like the bags are handmade, of a nice quality, and she uses some great fabrics. The only thing that I wonder about with this site is the fact that a lot of times, folks wrap their decks in silk and these fabrics appear to be cotton. To me, a natural fabric (whether silk or cotton) is just fine, but I still do wrap my Hanson-Roberts deck in the same bit of pink kimono silk that I bought years and years ago. The other thing you can do, I suppose, is wrap the cards themselves in silk, and then put the entire bundle into the bag.

Special thanks to Alan and Cheryl for reviewing some of the decks on this page.

Here's another tarot review page: Wicce's Tarot Collection.

And hey, this site has been listed as one of the top 100 tarot sites. What a nice blessing.
