Singing workshops and classes title graphic

Discover the joy and power in singing.

Develop a creative bond and common focus when you sing with others in these exciting and inspiring workshops and classes.

The voice, as our first instrument, has the greatest physical and emotional connection to our body. Throughout the ages, people have used song both to express themselves to their community and to connect with the sacred. And yet, usually, we sing without first establishing the crucial relationship among breath, body, and voice. Or perhaps we are afraid to sing because we fear that we can not sing.

Izolda has been teaching for over 17 years, and she has the uncanny ability to help students overcome blocks to singing and to expressing themselves authentically. Her students access their creativity when, together with Izolda they tear down those barriers and raise a new paradigm of creative freedom. Much of this work centers on technique and mechanics. Once those are addressed, often students find that their blocks disappear to such an extent that they easily share their creatvitiy with others.

Izolda's relaxed and effective style immediately encourages participants to ease into both learning and broadening their internal landscapes. Participants will be amazed at just how much they learn, how many skills they buildn, and how differently they see their world when they are done!

Izolda's demeanor and connection to our unit was engaging and electrifying! In just two hours, she had even the most reluctant members of our team singing and having a great time. We will definitely carry these techniques with us on our "clown rounds" and beyond in our individual careers.

Izolda is an engaging speaker, whose wide range of teaching experience shows in her mastery of the art. We've had the pleasure of many excellent teachers over the years, and she ranks with the finest of them. She easily imparts her knowledge and love of singing, and impressively adapts her material to the group at hand. We all felt that we improved our singing capabilities, and we can't wait to schedule the next one!

If you're interested in learning to read music...

Here is an interval ear training web page that will allow you to find intervals by looking at and listening to those intervals in commonly-known songs. The theory here is that if you know a certain song, it will be easier for you to pull the intervals out to sing them if you reference known intervals from known songs for singing new songs.

Here are the simple intervals (simple means an octave or less) from the minor second to the octave. You will see that the interval is to the left, the song and phrase that illustrate the interval under song (the bold indicates the exact phrase that gives you that interval), a midi file that plays part of the melody (the part that includes the interval) for you, and a graphic representation of the interval. The words up or down indicate the direction the interval is going.
