Press: A terrific review of the "Deep Waters" CD release party from the Greenbelt News Review and two stories about it from the Washington Post and the Gazette.

Sound the Deep Waters CD

Izolda now lives in Greenbelt, but is originally from Moldova. Sound the Deep Waters is definitive classical folk music. All the relevant influences are there from Ireland to Appalachia and the famed concert halls of Europe. If you like Loreena McKennitt under the New Moon then this will hit you where it counts.
-Laurin Wollan, Music Monthly, August 2003

SOUND THE DEEP WATERS is EXCELLENT! Solid, lovely, original songs; substantial arrangments, fine sidemen (er, sidepersons...), nice studio work....and above all, your strong and sensitive and graceful spirit driving the whole event. A very satisfying experience.... I feel touched and relaxed and nourished and sustained by your music. Thank you!
-Kip Allen, Program Director KHFM, Albuquerque, NM

Sound the Deep Waters Pre-Release CD

"I'm crying harder happiness tears right now than I have in a very long time ... This came to me at exactly the right time in exactly the right place, and now I see that everything does that, all the time."
-Matthew Hunter

Izolda, together with The Ladies Diana, bring to the stage an incredible string band capable of producing sounds and colors that take the listener on journey after journey as their show unfolds. A refreshing mix of favorite oldies coupled with well-crafted originals and experienced musicianship. These ladies love each other and their music, and it comes through differently every time you hear them. Bravo for Folk Nouveau!
-Francis Buckingham, Year of the Rabbit Coffee Pub

"You have a beautiful, clear voice that everyone enjoyed, as well as the music of your flute and guitar. Thank you again, for entertaining so superbly!"
-Jannette Wundrow, President, Prince George's County Retired Teachers' Association

"Fantastic!"
-Karl Hille, Prince George's County Gazette (Greenbelt)

"A magical singer-songwriter, Izolda also performs wonderful interpretations of classic folk songs.... An original and entrancing voice."
-Richard McMullin, New Deal Café

"IZOLDA is a singer-songwriter/trad violinist who once graced the stage with cool Pagan folk band Kiva. Here she explores the Folk Nouveau genre. Her playing is good and her voice even better, as she runs free in nearly Ella-style & I'd love to hear more."

"Izolda makes excellent, magical music -- beautiful vocals and skillful instrument work. She even kept us well-engaged while coping with changing a broken string."
-Eve, Coordinator, FSG XVII

Workshop and Class Reviews

Izolda's demeanor and connection to our
unit was engaging and electrifying! In
just two hours, she had even the most
reluctant members of our team singing
and having a great time. We will
definitely carry these techniques with us
on our "clown rounds" and beyond in our
individual careers.
-John Dodge, Supervisor,
Big Apple Circus Clown Care Unit at
Children's National Medical Center

Thank you again so very much for coming! Everyone noticed the difference in quality when we were all singing. You are a great teacher!!!!
Ariana Lightningstorm, Kiva

"Learn to Sing class is completely unlike American Idol, though from the start students know they are expected to perform for the "final." Instead of squashing a singer's enthusiasm, Izolda nurtures it, to the end that the voice grows technically in strength and psychologically in confidence. Through the intimate design of the class, Izolda provides the medium in which individuals can share with their classmates, each learning from the others, as well as the teacher, and growing together into a garden of voices."
-Cheryl Parker

"Relaxed, fun, friendly and very professional! Izolda's classes are packed with a huge variety of practical techniques which fit the needs of beginner or advanced singers. She has a confidance inspiring manner that makes even the shyest bath tub-only singers feel able to open their mouths to sing in front of others for maybe the very first time!".
-Sioban Farey

"Months after finishing my first ever singing class with you, I audtioned for a musical and got the part...I really believe that the skills that you taught in your class continue to help me whether I am auditioning or singing in a play."
-Verlene Biddings Goho

**

"What a fun class! And I learned so much too. Singing is fun!!"
-S. Lee Knorr

**

"Finally, I understand what people mean by 'placement', 'breathe with your diaphragm', and all those singing terms that seemed so mysterious. Not only can I sing better, but I can learn better. When's the next class?"
-Kevin Boyce

**

"I have always enjoyed singing and done it for fun. But taking the "Learn to Sing" class provided me with far more confidence. By the end of the class, my husband said he could hear a difference in my voice and projection. Not only that, it was fun! Highly recommended.
-Pat Noone
