Headed For A Swim © 2002 by Izolda TrakhtenbergThis piece was written on a whim in October. It all came out in a rush of brisk air as if I were exhaling it after holding my breath for a long time. I'm still not certain whether it will become a full-fledged song or live its life as a poem. I'll let you know. Oh, and the song is listed as part of an anthology of poetry and art on the website, "This Journey." Check out the incredible artwork that goes along with the song at http://thisjourney.bravepages.com/Var/Swim.htm Headed For A Swim Walking on my
own through all of life's decisions Instead of preparation
for whatever lies ahead I long for all
the times we touched on mountaintops, in waterfalls And yet I know
the time has come to dive into the tide For giving them
such power as to make me run and hide I know that you
can't love another til you love yourself How do you change
perspective, then, and gain a sense of self Forsaking all
your heart's desires and leaving passions (yearnings) idle And so my friend
I leave you now to live your life and take your bows Instead of running
chased by fears a scardey-cat, a frightened deer I'm taking off
my worry suit and I'm headed for a swim
