Well, here we go. This little angel puddin' pie named Tempest came into our lives on that auspicious of days, the Winter Solstice/Full Moon of last year. Our darling girl Seegie had been hit by a car on the Dia de los muertos, November 1st and I decided that I would mourn and wait until Winter Solstice to see if I could find her again. Some friends (Deborah, Eryq, Gina, and John) joined Rich and me to do a ritual for Seegie.
As some of you may know, after Belly died I wore a medicine bag to find him again and we (Rich, Alec and I) did when we found our beautiful boy, Loki at the Waff's farm.
So, on the night of Seegie's ritual, I donned the medicine bag again and vowed not to remove it until we found her again should she be able to come back to us. I also decided that I would wait until the Winter Solstice and go then to find her. Little did I know that Solstice would also fall on a full moon but that is how it happened.
Our dearest of dear soul mates, Alec, worked the phones and found a number of kittens who were about the right age and so on December 22nd Alec and I set off on the journey. First, we met a lovely part siamese girl we immediately named Luna, but although she was adorable, she wasn't interested at all in the medicine bag. But, I was really interested in her if we didn't find the right girl.
Alec, on the other hand, had had a real reaction to a boy named Simon (also at least part Siamese) and he was hinting in that direction. However, I knew that I wanted a girl for sure. Simon and another kitten named Diana were at the last place on our stop. So far, none of the kittens we'd seen had been even remotely interested in the medicine bag and I was starting to lose some hope.
But, I was waiting until the last place. We got to the place and Jill (the foster mom) let out the kittens. Well, who came running up but Seegie's spittin' image! She was Diana (coveniently already named after a goddess). And she looked just like Seegie except that she has an orange burst running down the right side of her face. Otherwise, she is a brown torti with a white tuft on her her chest with long puffy hair and a great tail. Well, she immediately ran over to me, sniffed intently at the medicine bag, played with it a bit and then grabbed on with both front paws and held on. I knew I'd found her; she jumped into my arms and promptly relaxed and began purring like crazy.
That's still one of her favorite things to do especially if I'm sitting on the couch. She jumps into my arms, purrs a lot, and then settles down for a nap. She's a true wonder.
As for her name, we thought about keeping Diana (I'd vowed that I would only name critters after deities from now on, and Diana was already named that way) however, we really loved the name, Tempest and I found out that the Tempestates were roman goddesses of wind and storm so it worked out great. She really is a tempest - full of energy and fire. We love her bunches.
Here are a couple more photos:
NEW! Here are a couple of recent shots of her - just because.

Enjoy. And thank you to all of you who supported us in our grief over our girl; we're glad she's back.
And most of all a great big thank you and lots of love love lo ve to Alec for all of his efforts in helping us find Tempest. I don't know what we'd do without him.
