Here are some chants and some stories and poetry that I've written over the past few years. These have all been used in ritual. Feel free to use these in ritual if you'd like. If you do, please email me and let me know how it went. I'll update this with more stuff as I come up with it or html-ize it.
Full Moon Chant (written to honor the moon after the second annual Maryland Faerie Festival)
Flickering in the night
Forms moving in the light
Of moonlight and shadows on the landWaltzes and fairyrounds
walk upon sacred ground
Dance with the Goddess hand in handSacred is she, blessed are we
Fire Element chant (written and sung to invite Fire at the 1994 Free
Spirit Gathering [Rich juggled lit fire torches while I sang])
Some of the people at the Reclaiming ritual in San Francisco wanted to get
a hold of this chant and I recored (a rather poor quality) vocal
for it so everyone can get a hold of the melody. NEW
Fire Fire, burning bright
Come to us on this nightFlame, flame, home and hearth
Light our way to heal the earthSun, Sun, kiss the skies
Passion-lit we burn and rise
Goddess I Am NEW
This chant was inspired and influenced by spending time at the Hill of Tara in Ireland. The Hill of Tara is the ancient seat of power of Celtic Kings and Queens. When you are there, you can still feel that awe-inspiring energy. As I walked around the hills, the chant welled up from within me. Many thanks go out to Kristen and Lauren for being there with me and for joining in the chant at Morholt's Seat at sunset in March 2002. Together we stood on the hill and sang this chant as the sun set.
Dear friends Paula, Terry, and I recorded this as part of a chant CD project. We gathered in my little studio around one microphone and laid the various tracks.
The chant is started by all joining in and singing together. Then, when the time is just right, one woman (or all the women in the group) sings the first line "Goddess I am" and the others respond with "Goddess thou art" and all sing, "Goddess in mind, body, and heart." Then, the men sing, "God I am" and the women respond with, "God thou art," and everyone sings, "god in mind, body, and heart." Then everyone sings the last verse altogether. Then, all take turns alternating who sings the first line and who answers so that everyone gets a chance to sing it this way.
(Take a listen to the first verse sung by Paula, Terry, and myself)
