This site is dedicated to walking softly on the earth, to celebrating her cycles and seasons, and to living "delicious." I believe that art, music, and beauty in the lush everyday can be cherished and enjoyed. I've been playing with the idea of starting either a web or print magazine called "Sacred Circles" and this page is the seed of that idea. In "Sacred Circles," we'll have stories, chants, articles, ideas, images, instructions and an events calendar that will both give information on celebratory events and on political and social actions that will be occurring. I believe that celebrating the cycles/seasons is a wonderful way to honor the earth, and I also believe that political and social actions taken with forethought and clear intention can make a difference in our world. It is with community involvement in political and social action that we can effect changes in the way we live on and treat both this planet and all her creatures. Eventually, I will expound upon the concepts of the sacred circles of the elements (earth, air, fire and water and their correspondences to the lithosphere [and pedosphere], atmosphere, biosphere and hydrosphere that make up the earth herself). This is vital in the education system of our country because as students learn science and the earth's spheres, they will also learn the interconnectedness of those spheres (witness the renewed attention being paid to the Gaia Hypothesis). I've written an open letter for a call to action, especially if you live in the DC area. If you wish to get involved in and help develop organized actions like park clean-ups or volunteering to feed the homeless or at animal shelters, or protests against injustice, please get in touch. |
For right now, here are some of my spiritual musings as well as the tarot deck review page and some sample rituals for the solar/lunar holidays. There are also some altar ideas and photos, a chants and poetry page as well as some resources that you might want to check out. And lastly, there is a candle-gazing meditation that I wrote for an autumnal equinox celebration that we had a few years ago. It was wonderful. If you have any questions or you would like to contribute to this page or two future issues of "Sacred Circles", please email me at: izolda@wild-moon.com.
Oh, and here is my latest little goddess pendant. I made her with sculpey and a quartz crystal that my awesome friend Teribear gave me. I'll put up more photos of this kind of thing soon along with instructions on how to make talismens. Enjoy.
