Wonder Why © 2003 by Izolda TrakhtenbergThis song is about obstacles to peace and happiness. It's about guns and bombs and children in sweatshops. It's about the deaths of good people like Paul Wellstone and Mel Carnaghan. It's about greed and the seemingly unquenchable thirst for things that we want but do not need. And it's about hope. I've had a revelation recently that together we can accomplish anything. We can indeed live free - all of us - If. We can liberate the world if the few of us who have so much are willing to let go of some of what we have or want. I saw a bumper sticker that says it all: "Live simply so others may simply live."
